Railways
India is a land of diverse culture and Indian Railways play a key role in not only meeting the transport needs of the country, but also in binding together dispersed areas and promoting national integration. Truly, Indian Railways have emerged as the sinews of the Indian economy and have reached out to bring together the great Indian family.

Airways
There are many domestic airports in the country. Almost all the important cities in India have domestic airports. There are more than 5 international airports in India and more than 65 domestic airports.

Roads

From a rail dominant economy in the 1950s, India has become a decidedly road dominant economy in the 1990s. The roadways have grown rapidly in independent India. Ranging from the cross-country link of the national highways to the roads in the deepest interiors, the country has a road network of 3.4 million km.

Waterways

India has eleven major seaports: Kandla, Bombay, Nhava Sheva, Marmagao, New Mangalore, and Kochi (formerly known as Cochin) on the west coast, and Calcutta-Haldia, Paradip, Vishakhapatnam, Madras, and Tuticorin on the east coast.
